I used to work as an emergency medical technician and on shift ended up actually smashing my front teeth in half and my teeth are fake from about here down. I was in a lot of pain and my front teeth were wrecked. I got set up with a really really stellar cosmetic dentist in Santa Barbara where I was in college at the time. He fixed up my teeth so beautifully and so well that I liked my smile better after he was done with his artistry than even before the accident. When he was completed with all of his work he handed me a mirror and I took a look and I said, “If I can make people feel as good as I feel right now, this has got to be an amazing job to have.” I went to college in Santa Barbara at UCSB and finished my dental degree in New York where I spent a lot of time with my family in New York City, went to Columbia.
I came back to California to finish my orthodontic residency in San Francisco at the University of the Pacific. I achieved a Bachelor of Science at UCSB. My dental degree is DDS from Columbia. The program at University of the Pacific was a master’s degree in dentistry. Additionally, I also work in the reserves for the United States Air Force in the dental core. I currently hold the rank of major. I finished my continuing education both in the civilian world and the Air Force world. It’s mainly general dentistry, orthodontics, also a lot of first aid, and medical care that I’ve learned within the Air Force. My ideal patient is a lot of fun. They’re honest, talkative. They like coming in. They like seeing the changes that are happening in their smile from appointment to appointment. They can share their concerns with me in a straightforward manner. We just have a lot of fun enjoying the intricacies of the doctor patient relationship and helping someone achieve a great great smile and oral health.
I feel like when I see orthodontic problems and the way people’s teeth fit together, it’s like solving a puzzle and we look at 50 to 75 puzzles every day. I really enjoy when patients know and can relate to me that the changes that are happening in their smile are something that’s helping to achieve a positive outlook with their social concerns about their smile. Also, with some of our younger patients that may be having trouble getting all their teeth to fit into their smile, it sure is a joy to be able to change peoples’ smiles orthodontically in a way that they know all their teeth are going to fit into their smile.
Do you want straight, even teeth but not sure which orthodontic treatment is right for you? Your orthodontists in Brea, CA is here to help. Brea Dental Group offers several teeth straightening options that fit your busy lifestyle. We have traditional braces, Invisalign aligner therapy, and 6 months fast braces.
Traditional braces are still the most effective way to correct all types of teeth misalignment, from mild to severe. Braces have come a long way since the bulky metal “railroad tracks” of years past. Modern braces feature high-grade stainless steel brackets and wires that are discreet and comfortable to wear.
An even more discreet alternative is ceramic braces. Ceramic or clear braces are less visible than metal brackets and are often used on the upper teeth. They are usually recommended for older teens and adults who want superior aesthetics.
With orthodontics, we have traditional braces that everybody’s aware of, the brackets on with the wires and everything. We also have Invisalign. Invisalign is a special, neat way of treating orthodontics in that you wear clear aligners and it’s over a period of time just like regular ortho, but people don’t know that you’re having ortho done. And they’re removable so you can eat, clean, brush, put everything back together, put the aligner back in. It’s like having ortho without anybody knowing, even you. Sometimes you know it’s there but most people don’t. I’ve had my assistants go through it and sometimes they come in and I can’t even tell that they’re wearing their aligners.
Invisalign is a teeth straightening system that uses custom, clear “aligners” to reposition teeth gradually. The aligners are similar to whitening trays that fit over the upper or lower teeth. Because the aligners are almost invisible, you can smile with confidence. The aligners are also removable so you can eat whatever you want and clean your teeth easily. There is also no metal to hurt your mouth and no frequent adjustments. Invisalign is the perfect straightening solution for an active lifestyle.
Before I was even born, braces consisted of circular bands around the teeth, really painful, really arduous to get all of those on. People were in appliances for 2 to 4 maybe plus years. This day and age is much different. I like to keep my patients in braces less than two years if possible. We offer small, low-profile metal braces, in addition to ceramic, clear braces, which blend in well with two structures so people can’t really tell they’re wearing braces. It’s a great option for adults and even for teenagers as well. Invisalign is an wonderful product, been around about 15 years or so and it continues to be honed by the company each year. As long as the doctor understands how to write a good prescription to Invisalign, it’s a wonderful product to straighten teeth. It’s without wires, without anything glued to the teeth. I enjoy offering Invisalign as a treatment option to my patients because not everybody wants braces on their teeth. We offer a lot of the most up to date technology in terms of orthodontic appliances here.
Six Month Cosmetic Braces
Six month cosmetic braces is a cosmetic treatment that targets teeth that show when you smile. The system features ultrathin brackets that move your teeth gently using low forces. Because only certain teeth are repositioned, treatment is faster and more comfortable. Most patients see results in just six months! Six month braces are cosmetic and not intended to replace conventional orthodontic treatment.
